Search

LinkedIn’s new improved search helps you find the right people, knowledge, and expertise. Be more effective professionally by utilizing some of the new features of search:

Unified Results: Search through all 30 million professionals on LinkedIn, both inside and out of your netowrk.
Streamlined Design: We’ve redesigned our page to be easier to use, and you can now refine your search on the right hand side by keyword, name, and other attributes.
In Common: While browsing through your search results, you can now see what connections and groups you share in common with the people you find.
Saved Searches: After you run a search, you now have the option to save it and run it again at a later time, and get alerts when someone new meets your criteria.
Views: Clicking on the views tab allows you to switch between a basic view, an expanded view with more information, or a custom view which you can create.
…and more: We’ve also included a number of other enhancements you might notice, including spell-check, and “type-ahead” option that recommends searches while you are typing.

LinkedIn Applications

LinkedIn has teamed up with some of the Internet’s premier companies to bring you new applications that enable you to collaborate on projects, get key insights, and present your work to the world’s largest professional network.

The nine applications on LinkedIn include productivity enhancing applications from Amazon, Box.net, Google, Huddle, Six Apart, SlideShare, Tripit, and WordPress as well a Company Buzz application developed by LinkedIn. Each of these applications will help you stay current and competitive as a professional in today’s rapidly changing business world. Group Discussions

LinkedIn Groups is a great way to expand your networks and relationships, and now we have integrated discussions within every group. Check out the new additions to groups:

Group home page: A private space for your members on LinkedIn.
Discussion forums: Simple discussion spaces for you and your members. (You can turn discussions off in your management control panel if you like)
Enhanced roster: Searchable list of group members.
Digest emails: Daily or weekly digests of new discussion topics, which your members may choose to receive.

iPhone Application

LinkedIn’s iPhone application can be used on any version of the iPhone. All you have to do is visit the app store and search for LinkedIn, or use this link. Here are some features of the application:

Update your status on the go to keep your colleagues up to date while you are out of the office
Instantly send messages to your connections
Integrate LinkedIn with your iPhone address book, simply copy over your contacts
Invite great people to join your network when you meet them— don’t risk losing their business card
Use LinkedIn search on the go and save your search history for common searches

Searchable Groups Directory

Search our new groups directory and find groups that you are interested in. LinkedIn Groups offers extra features to group-based organizations to help their members stay in touch with one another and discover powerful new business contacts within their groups and beyond.

The Groups Directory is accessible from the left navigation as well as the search drop down in the upper right part of the page.
Search results return groups that match based on either the group name or a keyword in the group description.
Groups may be filtered by category, including alumni, corporate, conference, networking, non-profit, professional, or other.

LinkedIn Mobile

Now you can visit LinkedIn on the go on your mobile device! Simply browse to http://m.linkedin.com on your mobile phone to get started.

LinkedIn mobile works on any WAP enabled device, and there is also a version specially optimized for the iPhone. The mobile site currently supports English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese with additional languages to follow.
